3D PRINTING

During the Pandemic, like much of the world, without the ability to safely produce theatre and other public events I was forced to pivot to find work in other areas. I turned to 3D printing and decided to do my best to solve one of the biggest issues other designers and myself run into. How do I make accurate effective scale models quickly. So I began to research various types of period furniture and decor. Many designers can spend hours building scale furniture for models. When one is busy with multiple designs as once this can severely hinder a designers work flow. My answer to this was to model and create a catalogue of highly detailed scale models of furniture from a wide range of periods and styles. While original began learning and using 3D printing for my peronsal model work I soon realized certain standardized elements might be useful and with the wonder that is 3D printing I could replicate those designs on mass scale and offer them as a resource to my fellow designers.

STEPHEN F AUSTIN STATE UNIVERSITY

I currently serve as the professor of scenic design for SFASU in Texas. I teach a variety of classes centered on design, management, stagecraft and painting.

MY Mission

As an artist my mission is to be a cohesive element. I aim finishing the sentence begun by the other designers and artists working on the production. I want to provide a landscape on which the lighting, costumes, sound and music can live together on as seamlessly as possible. I want to be part of the creative process that transports the viewers to new strange and exciting locations and make them forget the theatre or gallery or park or zoo they entered earlier. Eventually, I very much hope to find myself in place to pass along my experience with a new generation of designers on the university level.
